WILLIAM ALEXANDER (AL) CAMPBELL March 21, 1920 - February 2, 2008 After a short illness, Al passed away peacefully at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his parents, Neil Brown and Eliza Jane Campbell, brothers, Neil and Ted, sister Maybelle, brother-in-law Arthur, sisters-in-law, Joan, Nancy and Maxine, nephew Bissett and niece Heather. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Hazel, son Neil (Karen), daughter Lisa (Ken), five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was born and raised in Winnipeg. He served his country under the 3rd Division Signals from 1940-45. Upon returning, he spent a short time in Saskatoon before settling in Lac du Bonnet where he worked for the Government Air Service for 33 years until his retirement in 1981. He was very community minded and served as either major or councilor for 30 years. He was also a very active Legion member and had received his lifetime membership. He spent the last 13 years with Hazel in Beausejour where they could be closer to family. Al was a real gentleman that will be very much missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Zeiler and the staff at the Beausejour Hospital for the excellent care you gave to us all. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The War Amps, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON M1V 5K9.
