ERNEST ALFRED WHITEHORN March 27- 1914 - February 2, 2008 Peacefully on February 2, Ernest, loving husband of Mary for 64 years, passed away. Ernest was born in Coventry, England, on March 27, 1914. He was predeceased by his father, mother, and brother. He leaves behind his beloved wife Mary to cherish his memory; along with nephew David Bentley and family of Calgary, Alberta; his nieces and nephews and their families in England; along with his beloved extended family Barb and Bob, Trevor, Tamara and Travis Taylor of East St. Paul. Ernest and Mary, who were married in 1944 in England, came to Canada in June 1957 where he started a career with Bristol Aerospace, retiring in 1980. After retirement Ernest enjoyed traveling, reading, theatre and opera. He dedicated many hours at the Western Canadian Aviation Museum assisting on the restoration program of the Vickers Vedette. Mary wishes to express her sincere gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff on the 5th floor, Unit E, at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion and to his family doctor Dr. H. DaSilva for his care of Ernest over the past years. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Murray and Natasha Tarvis and family for helpfulness, caring and compassion over the years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ernest's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home.
