Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT GEORGE PAYNE Peacefully on the 3rd of February 2008 at the Deer Lodge Centre, Bert passed away at the age of 82. Bert was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth, his parents Florence and Albert Payne and his brother Stan. He will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Pearl Enefer and Ivy Payne, his brother-in-law Eddie Solomchuck and his wife Esther and lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Bert Joined the Navy during the Second World War and served in the North Atlantic. Upon returning to Winnipeg he continued his career with the Canadian National Railway until his retirement. Bert was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Transcona where he lived until illness made it necessary for him to move to the Deer Lodge Centre. Bert had a particular love for the Sea Cadet and Navy League Cadet programs and his contribution through the years had a profound effect on many young people. He loved working in his garden, enjoyed his fishing trips to the Whiteshell and spent many summers at Grand Beach sailing and fishing. The family would like to thank the staff on Tower 5 for the care and love they gave Bert during his stay with them. It was very much appreciated. As per Bert's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at a later date. NAVAL PRAYER O eternal Lord God, who alone spreadest out of the heavens, and rulest the raging of the sea; who has compassed the waters with bounds until day and night come to an end; be pleased to receive into thy almighty and most gracious protection the persons of us thy servants and the fleet in which we serve. Preserve us from the dangers of the sea, and from the violence of the enemy; that we may be a safeguard unto our most gracious sovereign lady, Queen Elizabeth and her dominions, and security for such as pass on the seas upon their lawful occasion; that the inhabitants of our commonwealth may in peace and quietness serve thee our God; and that we may return in safety to enjoy the blessings of the land, with the fruits of our labours, and with a thankful remembrance of thy mercies to praise and glorify thy holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
