ALICE JUDELA MINION (HENRICKSON) April 8, 1917 - February 3, 2008 Alice, aged 90, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2008, after living with cancer for the past two years. Our loving mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister-in-law, and dear friend slipped from this Earth to enter eternal peace. Grandma Minion had the most endearing personality and giving heart of any angel on Earth. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends - people who loved her deeply and were greatly devoted to her. Although Grandma's illness during her final days made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. Even in her weakest moment, Grandma was determined to walk across the hospital room with her family by her side. She lived through good times and hard times. When she was three years old, her mother, Dena, passed away. She was raised by a widowed father in a time when it was unfamiliar. She was predeceased by her father, John; infant son, Johnny; brothers Henry, Clarence, Sam, Arthur; and husband, Lester. She leaves behind beautiful memories for her son Ron, his wife Diane, and grandchildren Steven and Carrie. Also left to share those memories are Diane's sister, Annette (Scott) Greene, and their children Matthew and Mikayla. Alice's family in the United States include nieces, nephews, and their children. Of those, Bette (Don) Hohwieler, their children Jolene and Dan and their families; Lois Bottoms and family; Donna Thompson and family; and Dean and Nina Henrickson and family will miss her dearly. Alice leaves many family members and lifelong friends in Winnipeg and the United States. Her splendour and strength will last on forever. We will fondly remember Grandma's amazing baking and cooking, and her famous lefse at Christmas time. At family meals, we were always reminded that there's more in the kitchen. Grandma admired her grandchildren with the love and care only a grandmother could give. With Alice's passing, we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, she will remain forever in our hearts. Through her guidance in all aspects of our lives, we were able to create wonderful memories, and it has been a privilege to be part of her family. Alice lived a blessed, exemplary life. Subtle and always courteous and understated, she had made no negative waves, instead smoothing the waters for all. She was down-to-earth, filled with a kindness that exceeded human possibility. Following cremation, at her request, a service of remembrance and celebration will take place on Friday, February 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 600 Minto St., Winnipeg, with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff and homecare at The Kiwanis Courts, to the staff on the 5th floor of Grace Hospital, and to the staff at Chapel Lawn for their expert advice and services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Winnipeg. A gentle soul who will be dearly missed. We are all better off, and the Earth a better place, for having had her here. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME 885-9715
