LEONARD ANDERSON Peacefully, on February 3, 2008, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer, Leonard Anderson passed away at the age of 56. Left to mourn his loss are his devoted wife Fran, sons Adam and Aaron, sister Marty, father Roy and wife Eleanor, and extended family, Tracy, Kelly and Marvin, grandsons, Kyle and Liam, granddaughter Kayla, seven nephews, three nieces, many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Patricia Cunningham and sister Margaret. Len served as a signalman in the R.C.N. from 1970 to 1972 on the H.M.C.S. Columbia stationed in Esquimalt, BC. Upon his return to Winnipeg he met the love of his life Fran, and they married in 1974. Len was as a machinist by trade and worked at many different manufacturing companies since 1973, most recently employed at Custom Castings. Len loved to travel, fish, take photos, listen to music and watch movie classics. He cherished the beauty of nature, especially mountains, waterfalls, flowers, trees and sunny days. He loved being a Granddad and the time he spent with his grandchildren. Len was a member of West Kildonan Legion for 33 years. He played house league darts there in the late 1970s and early 1980s as well as in an inter-legion league, and was active in the MB Darts Association also serving on its Board of Directors. Always a good sport, he enjoyed playing Yahtzee with his Dad and numerous card games with friends and family. He was a proud member of his church and enjoyed talking about Scriptures with Rose. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Anglican Church. In honour of his faith and in gratitude for the love and support from fellow parishioners, donations may be made in his memory to St. Anne's Anglican Church, 253 Burrin Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2V 1E6.
