ARTHUR E. WHITE November 7, 1917 - February 4, 2008 Arthur passed away peacefully at the age of 90, with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife Iris in 1997, granddaughter Karen in 1987, two sisters and a brother. Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Patricia (Edward) Thiessen and Joyce (Fred) Gaida, grandchildren Heather (Ryan), David (Shayla), Christine (David), Keith (Meranda) and seven great-grandchildren. Born in Solihull, England, he was a Second World War veteran who married his sweetheart Iris in June 1945. Immigrated to Canada in 1949 and took up residence in Transcona with his wife and two daughters. Arthur worked as an electrician with the CNR for 32 years. Dad was a quiet man but always had something to say to everyone he met. He was an active member of St. George's Anglican Church for many years. His family was very important to him especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him Gampy. Summer days spent at Lake Malachi on the deck at the cottage brought him great pleasure. Arthur had a very good life and enjoyed every minute of it. We wish to thank all the doctors and nursing staff on the Palliative Care Ward of St. Boniface Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Viewing Thursday, February 7 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing and service to be held at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. Arrangements entrusted to Transcona Funeral Chapel.
