Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY KOZLOWSKI September 23, 1924 - February 5, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Henry, beloved husband of Hanna (Ann) and his children, Barbara, Donna (Brian), Deborah (Dom), Michael, Linda (George), and five grandchildren, David, Andrew, Jennifer, Karen, and Brian. Henry was born in Chojnice, Poland, where he lived with his family until his country was invaded. Shortly thereafter he became part of the British 8th Army and served in Africa. He also spent some time during the war in the United States as an interpreter. In 1951 he immigrated to Winnipeg. Eventually he and his partner, John Bulawka, set up their own plumbing and heating business in Winnipeg, B.C. Plumbing Heating Ltd., which was sold on his retirement. Henry led a very active life. He loved fishing, chess, the building of two cottages, and in his younger years, piloting small aircraft, including float planes. He never lost his zest for reading - the newspapers, books, or the many magazines he subscribed to. He was a history buff who loved nothing better than interesting conversations with friends on whatever topic. Later in life he became interested in gardening and he always enjoyed cooking. He sometimes joked that what he should have really done was open a small restaurant. Henry served as president of the West Kildonan Kiwanis Club and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 246, as well as being involved from the onset of Seven Oaks Hospital, in the planning stages and later as a board member for 16 years. Throughout his life he served in a volunteer capacity for several organizations in the city and was also a City Councillor from 1975 -1977. He and Ann travelled once a year to different countries and islands and he remarked, on returning from their latest vacation in January, So, where's it gonna be next year? His life was too short. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Wesley Cwieka Officiating. Luncheon to follow directly after service. Flowers are gratefully declined. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
