TOGETHER AGAIN ROBERTA ALFREDA SIGURDUR FTOMA (nee STEVENS) On February 3, 2008 in her room at Middlechurch Care Home with her children by her side, Roberta reunited with her high school sweetheart, friend and husband Steve who predeceased in 2001. After a long courageous battle with MS, Roberta is finally at peace. Roberta was born on July 21, 1941 in Selkirk to Robert and Agnes Stevens who predeceased her. Roberta leaves to cherish her memory, her son Greg (Kim), granddaughter Mackenzie of Brereton Lake, MB; daughter Kelly Weir (Mark), grandson Zak of Water Valley, AB; sister Pat Evers (John); special friend and close cousin Audrey Ettinger (Tucker); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Roberta was a very positive, passionate and caring person, which lead her to her teaching career of about 30 years. Roberta loved the outdoors, from fishing at Pine Falls, camping and boating in the Whiteshell to winter derbies as a Cub leader. During her stay at Middlechurch, on a summer's day, you would often find Roberta under a tree in the courtyard enjoying the flowers and the birds. Roberta was a proud friend, wife, aunt, mother, and at last a GRANNY. Roberta's request was cremation and a memorial service will held on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at the St. Clements Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in her memory be directed to the MS Society of Manitoba, 400-141 Bannatyne Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0R3 or a charity of choice. A special thanks to the staff at Middlechurch Care Home. Mom, Granny, we'll miss you, but it's your time to walk hand in hand with Dad. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
