CORINNE BESSELT It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Verna Mary Corinne Besselt (Dalton), on Thursday, January 31, 2008, after a short battle with lung cancer, with her family at her side. Corinne was born in Birtle, Manitoba, on January 5, 1928, to James H. and Laura (Kilpatrick) Dalton. After receiving her high school education in Birtle, she attended Success Business College in Winnipeg. She worked in Brandon at Ag School, Shoal Lake at the Ag Office, and finally in Winnipeg at the Soils and Crops Board. It was while in Winnipeg that she met Lloyd. They met at a dance, which was an activity they both shared a love for throughout their years together. They were married in Winnipeg on June 6, 1960. Shortly after in 1964, they started a family and moved to the farm that Lloyd had been born on near Bowsman, Manitoba. After many happy years there, they retired to Swan River in July of 1997. Corinne had many passions in her life. She was always naturally attracted to infants and little children. With Lloyd, she found great pleasure in square dancing, making friends all over Canada and as far away as Hawaii. She enjoyed traveling, especially to milder climates in the winter. She always looked forward to coming home where she maintained a garden that was the envy of the neighbourhood. She contributed to her community as an active member of the ACW, Eastern Star, and on the board of the Mental Health Association. Her greatest passion in her life was her family. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. Her patience, generosity, and love were boundless. As with all that she did, she was always offering to help, never asking for anything in return. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Lloyd; daughter Laura O'Leary; son, Eric Besselt (Donna); and her grandchildren, Stephanie, Zachary, Nicole, Lara, Tiara, Nathan, and Brendan. She also leaves her brother Jim (May) Dalton; sister-in-law Lil (Joe) Gieni; brother-in-law Ralph Condon; nephew Art (Lorraine) Dalton; nieces Barb (Ian Thorliefson) Dalton, Mary Dalton, and Janice (Tom Crook) Dalton; nephews, Edward (Sharon) Condon, Jody (Rose) Gieni, Randy (Jan) Gieni, and niece, Carol (Steve) Gieni; as well as many great-nieces and nephews. Corinne was predeceased by her father, James H. Dalton (1967), her mother Laura (1981), her in-laws Edward (1994) and Emily (2000), her sisters-in-law Anne Gaschermann (1999), and Rose Condon (2007), and in infancy, her brother-in-law Harold Jacob Besselt (1938). An evening visitation service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2008, from the Chapel of Paull Funeral Home, Swan River. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008, from the St. James Anglican Church, Swan River, Manitoba, with Reverend Nigel Packwood officiating. Following the service, Corinne will be laid to rest in the Minitonas Cemetery, Minitonas, Manitoba. Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Corinne's honour may be made to the Swan Valley Health Facilities Foundation or to CancerCare Manitoba. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. G. Theodore and Dr. W. Wickert and to the caring staff at the Swan Valley Health Centre. Honoured to serve the Family, Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium 506 - 2nd Street North, Swan River, 734-4556
