Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUDREY SYDELL FURST (nee BYCHUK) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Wife, Mother and Nana, Audrey Sydell Furst at the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home in Winnipeg on February 6, 2008 at the age of 75 years, after a lengthy battle with primary progressive aphasia which slowly, but surely robbed her of all her mental and physical capabilities. Audrey will be missed and remembered by her loving husband Lorne, daughter Lori and husband Darrell Spencer, grandsons Jonathan and Colin, sons Jeffrey, Kevin and wife Brenda, all of Winnipeg. Audrey is also survived by her siblings Shirley (Jim) Barrett of Winnipeg, Lovey (Bernie) Lefko of Glenmoore, MB, Ron (Betty) Bychuk of Lac du Bonnet, MB, sister-in-law Doreen (Bill) Olearnek of Nanaimo, BC, brothers-in-law Clifford (Anna) Furst of Winnipeg, Clancy (Paula) Fuerst of Calgary, AB and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Audrey was born in Winnipeg to Michael and Carroline (Kwiecien) on June 11, 1932. She attended schools in Winnipeg and Glenmoore, MB, where her parents farmed. She finished her education at St. John's Tech and had several secretarial jobs before she met and married Lorne on October 3, 1953. In 1960, Audrey and Lorne purchased their home in North Kildonan. After her children grew up, she worked in the Credit Department at Zellers on Henderson and later as a clerk for Metro Drugs in the Springfield Heights Shopping Centre until after Lorne retired from the CNR in 1988. Audrey enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, landscape painting, camping and trailering to all parts of Canada and the United States. In 1984, they bought a cottage on the Winnipeg River near Lac du Bonnet, where they spent as much time as possible. She also enjoyed traveling trips to Vegas, Florida, Europe, Eastern Canada, Cuba, Yellowstone Park and Nanaimo, BC. Lorne and family extend their gratitude and thanks to all the staff at Bethania for their understanding care and the way in which they always treated Audrey with dignity and compassion during her lengthy, over five year stay. Cremation has taken place and as per her wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice can be made.
