LOUISE DANIELSON Alysia Louise Gross was raised on a farm in the community of Grassy Lake, Alberta. Her parents Magdalena Fettig and Felix Gross were Russian immigrants of German descent. They moved to Canada where they married and raised a large Catholic family of 12 children. As a girl Louise loved riding horses until on one occasion her horse threw her, causing her chronic back pain most of her life. She met and married Marvin Danielson in Calgary in 1943 and they honeymooned in Lake Louise. They began married life in Gimli, Manitoba, moving shortly after to Vancouver, BC, for a short time with their first child. She would later enjoy telling about the foggy nights in Vancouver when her dad would make her carry a hat pin for protection because it was a dangerous port city. After they moved back to Gimli Louise loved to play piano at parties she and Marvin held at their house and knew many of the popular tunes of the day as well as classical music, a favourite of her's being Claire De Lune. Louise always had a very strong faith in God and was a very good listener, trying to help those whom she met with her compassionate sympathy. For many years she supported several Third World children and delighted in the many letters and drawings she received from them. Her love for her family always came first and she kept in close contact with her children and grandchildren. Louise is survived by her son Duane Marvin Marty Danielson, daughter Terese Maureen Liles, and grandchildren Shane, Zachary, Elijah, Joshua, Sarah Danielson, and Shawna (Evan) Sadler. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008 (today), at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
