MARGARET STEFFAN All I am, I owe to my mother. - George Washington It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Steffan on February 4, 2008, at Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by her sister, Edith Hawkins; her mother, Irma Mehesz; and her father, Bela Mehesz. Margaret was employed as a cook at CFB Westwin for 17 years until her retirement in 1995. Her exceptional skills in the kitchen were passed on to her two grandsons, Christian and David Steffan of Toronto. Grandma always knew how to make those boys laugh. A proud and independent woman, Margaret raised her children, Randy Steffan of Pickering, Ontario, and Cindi Steffan of St. Andrews, Manitoba, as a single parent. She was devoted to her family and cared for her own mother for many years. Mom, you raised your son and daughter well. We had our good times and we had our bad times. But you taught us the value of a mother's love and we will never forget. Thank you for helping us on life's way. Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. If friends desire, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
