JACQUELINE MARIE ANNETTE (JACKIE) ZASTRE It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Jackie Zastre. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 62 years. Jacqueline Marie Annette Zastre (nee Beaulieu) was born on November 6, 1945 at the Ste. Rose General Hospital, the youngest of five children and the only daughter to parents Fred and Louise Beaulieu. Jackie was raised on her parent's farm in Mooredale, Manitoba. She attended the Mooredale School in her early years and attended Ste. Rose School for her high school education. Upon leaving her family home as a young lady, Jackie worked at various jobs in Ste. Rose and in Winnipeg. Later on, Jackie met and married her husband Germain. Together they built a home and raised their family in Ste. Rose du Lac. Jackie gave birth to five children, Joseph, the eldest died in infancy. Soon after a son Randy was born, followed by the twins Darren and Daryl and a daughter Tanya. As Jackie's children grew older, she obtained a job at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste. Rose as a dietary aide. Jackie became ill in 1995. She underwent by-pass surgery at the Health Sciences Centre. Following a lengthy recovery, she was able to return to work. She fought a difficult battle with diabetes as well as having chronic pain in her hand, wrists and legs throughout her career. Jackie retired from the Gendreau Home in 2006, having given 22 years of service. Jackie's retirement was short-lived. Several hospital stays and many medical trips to Winnipeg left her with little time for enjoyment. She spent her final days in the St. Boniface Hospital. On February 4, 2008 at 11:15 p.m. with her family by her side, she quietly slipped away. Jackie was predeceased by her parents Fred and Louise Beaulieu, her sons Joseph in infancy and Daryl in 2004 at the age of 33 years, her brother Leo, her nephews Richard and Clayton and her father-in-law Philip Zastre. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories; her husband Gerry, her sons Randy and Darren (Cindy) Zastre of Ste. Rose du Lac, her daughter Tanya (Paul) Rank of the Narrows, her granddaughters Meaghan and Shayla Gamache of Ste. Rose du Lac and Kayla O'Flaerety of Evansburg, AB, her brothers Gordon (Diane) Beaulieu of Ste. Rose du Lac, Garry (Mary-Lou) of Barrie, ON, and Eddie (Sharon) of Duluth, MN, her mother-in-law Alice Zastre of Ste. Rose du Lac as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. In accordance with Jackie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Jackie to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba.
