CHRISTINA ALLAN STEVENS (GOWANS) May 13, 1910 - February 4, 2008 Peacefully, after a brief illness, on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Tuxedo Villa at the age of 97 years Chris passed away with her niece Audrey at her side. Key people in Chris' life were her parents Christina and Thomas, her older brother George and her beloved husband Charlie. She leaves to mourn her nephew Stan (Carolyn) Gowans and family, niece Joyce Armour and family, cousin Gladys Bunting, friend Nellie Jones and special friend Dave (Vinnie) Law and their three girls, Diane (Rob Christie) Law, Brenda (Les) Burtnick, and Audrey (Bruce) Hosegood. Christina was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Her family emigrated to Canada in May of 1921, just before Chris turned 11. She married Charles Stevens on August 19, 1933 in Winnipeg at Sparling United Church at the age of 23. Charlie passed away in July of 1961. After 28 years of marriage, Chris had to learn to live alone. With help from Dave Law and his family, Chris adjusted to her new life. Chris loved to travel and to laugh. She had a wonderful laugh, full of life and infectious. She will be missed. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Tuxedo Villa, especially cousin Judy Law, the two Marcies and everyone else on Station One. You are special people. Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service is being planned for Chris' birthday in May at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
