ORESTE ROMEO January 3, 1934 - February 2, 2008 It is with great sorrow, that we announce the sudden passing of Oreste Romeo on February 2, 2008, with his loving wife at his side. He was 74 years old. He will be dearly missed by his wife Rina: son Tony (Mary), daughter Anna; three grandchildren Rina (Mico), Anthony and Wayne; his two brothers Joseph, August (Caterina), his four sisters Maria, Concetta (Mario), Antoinetta (Joe) of Victoria, BC, and Rafaella of Catanzaro, Italy; and also numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. He was predeceased by both parents Anna and Antonio and his brother Domenic. Oreste was born in Amato, Italy, on January 3, 1934. At the young age of eight years old, his father suddenly passed away and he started working as a barber at 12 years old to support his family. In 1953, he immigrated to Canada and settled in Transcona. In July 1956, he married Rina Rossi and his two children were born in 1957 and 1961. In 1958, along with his two brothers Joseph and Domenic opened Romeo Bros. Barber Shop in Transcona which they have operated for 50 years. Over the years he developed many friendships with his customers. Oreste was a very dedicated and devoted husband, father and grandfather who was always determined to provide only the very best for his family. His family was the most important thing in his life and loved spending time with them. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage at Star Lake during the summer months. He was very proud of his three grandchildren and he was so happy to see them grow up and be part of their lives. His grandchildren meant so much to him and they always brought a smile to his face. He was so overjoyed to see his granddaughter, Rina be married last July. Oreste always had a smile, a great sense of humour and enjoyed joking around with all of his friends and relatives. He enjoyed being with people and was always caring, helping and thoughtful and shared many great times with his family, relatives and friends. He especially enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening and making wine. He will forever be in our hearts, forever be in our memories. We love you very much and you will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Thank you to all of our family and friends for their love and support. Prayers will be said at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., on Sunday, February 10 at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. also at the church with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow at Green Acres Funeral Home Cemetery, Hwy. #1 E. and Navin Rd. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Anthony Romeo, Wayne Kelly and Mico Fiorillo, nephews Tony Romeo, Alberto Cisotto and Tony Romeo. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Oreste's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY www.thomsoninthepark.com 925-1120
