ILSE DOROTHEA KATHARINA KOERNER Peacefully on February 5, 2008, our Aunt passed away from emphysema at St. Boniface Hospital. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her nephew Jens Fieting (Annette Ahlgren) and her great-nephew Ian Fieting (Joanne Hunt) and their children Joshua and Rae-Lynn. She also leaves to mourn her sister-in-law Ursula Klockgeter in Bremen, Germany. She was predeceased by her husband Karl-Otto on February 26, 2002, her parents Johann and Kaethe Holtermann, brother Juergen, sister Ingeborg Fieting and husband Fritz, as well as her brother-in-law Guenther Klockgeter. Our Aunt was born in Bremen, Germany on May 8, 1925. She married Karl-Otto Koerner on October 31, 1953 and together they came across the Ocean to make Winnipeg, Canada their new home. Our Aunt was fiercely independent until the last day. Poor health during the last few years of her life prevented her from fully engaging in her passions like gardening, her flowers and the making of her delicious soups. She continued to reside in her home until the end. Special thanks to Home Care who looked after our Aunt so well and the people who came to look after her personal needs. A very special thank you goes out to Karin Striepe who came to visit her all those years and calling from her winter home to see how Auntie was doing and talk about family and times past. Our Aunt was the last surviving member of her family name Holtermann. At the request of our Aunt, there will be no service and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one's choice.
