CLAUDETTE REGAN
Date of Passing: Feb 05, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAUDETTE REGAN Peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, after a long struggle with lupus, Claudette Regan (Hebert), beloved wife of Ernie Regan, died at the age of 75 years. Her optimism and positive outlook on life will be deeply missed by her husband Ernie, daughter Patti (John Kiernan and his daughters Laura and Julie), sons Kevin (Wendy Tomm, Calvin, Sharla and Kira and Wendy's sons Jerrad and Brysen), and Jeff (Lynda, Molly, Hannah and Samara). Claudette was the youngest of seven children born to Andrea (Valcourt) and Theobald Hebert of St. Boniface, Manitoba. Her older siblings were sisters Germaine (Gordon Shoenau) and Berthe (Eric Barker), and brothers Georges (Juliette), Claude (Eveline), R. Charles (Ruth), and Roger (Marge). Claudette (Mom/ Grandma) was a woman ahead of her time. Married to Ernie in 1956, she was one of the pioneer working spouses until they started their family in 1959. A natural as a mom, Claudette loved to strike out on adventures big and small with her kids and half the neighbourhood in tow. She became actively involved in all of the kids' activities, and was an avid and recognized volunteer with the Oxford Heights Community Centre and St. John's Aqua Kings Swim Club for many years. As a Grandma, Claudette was unsurpassed. She and Dad grabbed every opportunity to be with the grandchildren, and many tea parties , piano recitals and play dates were hosted. In retirement, before the lupus slowed her down, Claudette enjoyed traveling, walking and golfing with Ernie and with friends. Claudette also became quite accomplished in painting with oils and produced a fairly large collection , pieces of which were always in much demand amongst her children and others. The family would like to thank the professionals and staff on RR6, Rehab Hospital at the Health Sciences Centre, for attention and support above the call of duty while Claudette was in their care. Special thanks to Dr. Hitchon for the many years of care she provided to Claudette. A private memorial service celebrating Claudette's life has been held. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Claudette's name can be made to the Lupus Society of Manitoba Inc., 105-386 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg.
