FLORENCE HANSEN (nee LETAIN) Peacefully, after a long battle, Florence Hansen (nee Letain) passed away on February 6, 2008 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Florence is survived by daughters Suzanne Hansen and Arlene Anderson (Jim) and son, Tom Hansen; grandchildren, Meghan Hansen, Karen Anderson, Matthew Hansen and Heather Hansen; brothers Robert (Kathy) and Don (Marilyn) Letain; sisters Helen Nedokis, Belle Wallin, and Jean Charlebois and sister-in-law Lorraine Letain; also numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by her husband Art Hansen; granddaughter Sara Lynn Anderson; brothers Jules Letain and Earl Letain; sisters Betty Letain and Mary Hale; brothers-in-law Adam Nedokis, James Curly Hale, Bill Wallin, Gabe Charlbois; and sister-in-law Bernice Letain. Florence was the fifth child born to Jules and Ellen Letain in Lac du Bonnet on October 22, 1923. The family moved to Kenora, Ontario in 1928. Florence was educated at Mount Carmel and Lakewood High School. After graduating, Florence found employment with the Ontario-Minnesota Pulp and Paper Company from 1941 to 1948 which was where she met her future husband, Arthur J. Hansen. She also worked as a stenographer at the Kenora C.P.R. station from 1958 to 1961 before moving to Winnipeg. She then worked with Oil Industry Suppliers Ltd. in Winnipeg from 1962 to 1965. Florence was an avid sports enthusiast. She was a fierce competitor at skiing, ski jumping, curling, and golf in her younger years, and then bowling later in life. She approached driving with the same passion. Her favourite place on earth was her cabin on Rush Bay, Lake of the Woods, Ontario. It is here that her spirit will forever live. Family life was of paramount importance to Florence, and she was a tower of strength to us all. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street. Interment will be held in Green Acres Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Boniface Hospital, Ward 5B, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
