CLARKE ANDREW ROBERT PECKOVER May 26, 1932 - February 5, 2008 Peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family, Clarke Peckover's courageous battle with cancer ended on February 5, 2008. He was predeceased by his father Andrew, mother Olive and sister June. Left to cherish his memory are his loving partner Patti, his daughters Kym (Brent) and Kathie (Maurice), stepdaughter Rebecca (Jeff), and grandchildren Michayle, Eric, Celine and Denis, stepsister Carolyne (Dave) and family, niece Leslie (Edward) and family. Clarke joined the Winnipeg Police Force in 1954 and served 35 years until his retirement in 1989. During that time he rose through the ranks to become Superintendent of District #2. Clarke was adventurous and athletic and enjoyed many physical activities. Clarke spent many enjoyable years at his cottage in Matlock. It was there that he honed his gardening skills; his delicious tomatoes were anxiously anticipated by friends and family each year. Clarke enjoyed many years as an active member of the St. Nicholas Men's Club. While Clarke had a sometimes rough exterior, his heart was gentle. He had a special place in his heart for his cat Stewart, who will miss daily maulings on the staircase. Clarke was fiercely protective of those that he loved and we know that the hardest thing for him to let go was the ability to stay with us and look after us. But we know that not even death can stop Clarke from protecting us. He will always be with us sharing in the joys and struggles of the future. We love you Clarke and we know that you fought your disease with every bit of strength you had. A special thank you to the staff of CancerCare Manitoba, Mayo Clinic and St. Boniface Palliative Care for their exemplary patient care. Also David Anderson who was a faithful and devoted friend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation - Palliative Care, phone (204) 237-2067. Cremation has taken place with a private interment to follow. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., February 15 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

  • During the years that I knew Clarke, I always considered him a good friend. He was a person with a great sense of humor and a colorful character. He was also the right guy to have on your side with any issue. Over the years we spent many hours over coffee together. I was very saddened to hear of his passing . William Gray - Posted by: Wm.
