KATHLEEN ELIZABETH (KAY) WILLIAMS (nee HISCOX) July 21, 1916 - February 7, 2008 Peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at The Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Kay, our cherished mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, nanny, great nanny, aunt and friend passed away at the age of 91 years. Kay was predeceased by her loving husband Ed in 1983 and was the sole survivor of her dear siblings, brother Ted and sisters, Winnifred and Rita. She will be missed and forever loved by her daughter Beth and son-in-law Ron Bennett; her son Larry and daughter-in-law Robin Williams, and her daughter Eileen Hayton. Kay will always remain a very special Nanny to her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Lori, Allison, Danny, Julia, Tom, Kathy and Bob, and her great-grandchildren, Mike, Elyssa, Sam, Laine, Gage, Dakotah and Jonah. Kay was born and lived her 91 years in the north part of Winnipeg. As a girl she attended the Immaculate Conception School, graduated from St. Mary's Academy and received her Registered Nursing Degree from St. Joseph's Hospital on February 8, 1940. As an active member of the Hospital Guild, Kay devoted many years of service as a guild member and was instrumental in the building of our new St. Joseph's Residence on Leila Ave. As a devoted wife and mother, she continued her journey along side her husband in the family business. Throughout these many years, Kay dedicated her time to the church in several capacities and received numerous awards from the Catholic Women's League. This devotion culminated in her receiving, in 1984, the Benemerenti , which is the highest honour Rome can bestow on a layperson in the Catholic Church. Kay was the epitome of selflessness and in our minds, indeed a saint. She will remain a constant example to the people who were fortunate to know her. The family would like to thank the staff at The Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for their constant care and devotion during her long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at 1:00 p.m. with entombment to follow in Assumption Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society in Kay's memory. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
