NEIL ALOYSIUS MCNULTY (1909 - 2008) Peacefully, in the early hours of Saturday, February 9, at River Park Gardens, after 98 long and fulfilling years of life, Dad passed away. Neil is survived by daughters Patricia Argle (Dave), and Helen McNulty (Len), grandchildren Taryn Leblanc (Glenn), Eryn, and Ryan Argle, and great-grandchildren Hunter, and Aryanna, brother James of St. Catherine's, sisters-in-law Helen Wolfe, Joan Mayo (Mark), Velma McNulty, and many nieces and nephews. Special mention Joe, Chris, Erin, and Brenna McNulty of Winnipeg. Neil was predeceased by his loving wife Lucretia in February 2004, siblings, George, Joe and Elizabeth, and great-granddaughter Angelina. Neil was born May 14, 1909, in Toronto, to Joseph and Monica McNulty, the eldest of five. He had fond memories of growing up in Belleville on the Bay of Quinty. He joined the Dominion Bank in 1929, and then enlisted as a radar mechanic in the RCAF in 1941. He rejoined the bank 1945, and was posted in many little towns in Eastern Canada. Serving in a branch in Marathon, Ontario, he met a nurse named Lucretia Krueger. They married in March 1951 and moved to Edmonton and finally Winnipeg, where they raised their family. Neil retired from the bank in 1972, and went to Richardson Securities, where he worked for a number of years. As a young man, Neil, enjoyed hockey, rugby, speed skating, and baseball, music and reading the paper (which he did until the end). Later on, he golfed, curled and was an active member of the St. Bernadette's Bowling League for many years. He was a strong believer in physical activity, and many people will remember his daily walks with his walker to Safeway's and the TD Bank in St. Vital. Neil and Lu were founding members of St. Bernadette's Parish, where he was active in the Men's Club, Knights of Columbus and other church activities. He enjoyed visits from family and friends, and his eyes twinkled with Hunter's knuckle burgers and Aryanna's high fives every Friday morning at the personal care homes. The family would like to thank the staff at the Maples and River Park Gardens for their exceptional care. The staff from both centres go above and beyond, and became like family to us. A big thank you to D. V. A. for their support. A thank you to Father Fred Olds and Father Ray Baudry as well. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, with a viewing one half hour prior to mass. If desired, donations may be made to Siloam Mission or Kid Sport in Neil's name. Irish Blessing May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine upon your face The rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again May God hold you in the palm of his hand The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J COUTU CO.
