L. W. (BILL) MASON On Friday, February 8, 2008 Bill Mason passed away peacefully at home in his sleep at the age of 85 years. Remaining to forever cherish Bill's memory are his loving wife Renee; children, Pamela, Susan, Jeff and Brad; grandchildren, Catherine, Sarah, Paul, Thomas, Alexandra, Tristan and Samantha; sister, Jean and nieces and nephews, Joanne, Nancy, Rick, Anne and John. He was predeceased by his parents William Henry and Alice Rose Mason, and sister Avis. Born on May 8, 1922, in Melita, MB, Bill lived with his family on the farm where his grandparents had homesteaded. He served overseas in the RCAF, meeting and marrying his English Rose , Renee. They spent most of their married life in Winnipeg. Bill enjoyed a successful career as a sales representative in commercial heating and was inducted into the Mechanical Contractors Association as a pioneer in the industry. He enjoyed all sports whether watching or taking part. A keen bowler and curler, he also enjoyed golfing, fishing and going out dancing with his wife. A committed community volunteer and longtime active member of Legion Branch #4, Bill was awarded a Life Membership in recognition of his many years of service. Greatly missed by family and friends alike, he was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren. They loved him dearly in return. On Friday, February 15, a memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue), with Lt. Col. Maxwell Ryan, presider. For those who wish, parking is available in the SeventhDay Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2
