Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN JUDITH GROOT Peacefully, on February 12, 2008, Evelyn passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 67 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 18 years, William; her children, David (Paulette), Daniel (Shelley), Tony (Anne), Michelle, Rachel (Wayne); grandchildren, Mike, Krista, Braedon, Lindsay, Erin, Matthew, Sonia, Elyse; her brother Bill (Betty), and her sister Brenda (Del). Evelyn was predeceased by her parents William and Grace VAN der LEK; her sister Audrey, and her daughter Janine. Evelyn's strength and positive attitude affected all those that knew her. William along with Evelyn were a team that could not be separated. William managed a business called Willm's Craning Ltd. and with her understanding and patience it developed to be a successful business. William is now retired from his business and was looking forward to spending many years at her side doing the things they loved to do. Evelyn loved to ride on the Harley on Sunday mornings for brunch. She also loved to travel but her illness prevented extended trips. Her greatest trip was in 1990 when she and Bill travelled to Hawaii and got married. Brenda and Del were their attendants. Her passions in life were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved very much. She also enjoyed her many special occasions spent with the entire Groot family. The family would like to thank Dr. Bshouty, Assistant Lynne, the staff at GH6 wing at Health Sciences Centre and the staff at Selkirk Hospital. Many thanks to all those who visited her during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg, with viewing half hour prior to.
