RITA CHOMIAK (nee JORMANAINEN) Peacefully at home on February 10, 2008, Rita went to rest with her mother, father, and brother Leo. Rita is deeply loved by her husband Dave and sons Tomas and Michael. Her sister Margot Tulak (Russell) will miss her baby sister. She is survived by niece Leila Van der Giefsen and family of Houston, BC; Laura Jormanainen in the Queen Charlotte Islands; in-laws Walter and Susan Chomiak, Katherine Chomiak, Carol and Gerry Bonham (Chelsea, Rhett, and Peyton), and Pat and Rick Hulme and family, as well as many friends and relatives in Canada and Finland. To everything there is a season. Rita was born on July 23, 1957, in Ft. St. John, BC, to Elvi Wuori and Onni Jormanainen and grew up in Canada and Finland. She obtained her business accountancy diploma from Red River College in 1979. Rita married Dave on May 24, 1980, in Winnipeg. She worked at SED systems in Saskatoon, Boeing Canada and Manitoba Child Care Association in Winnipeg. Those that knew Rita loved her kindness and gentleness. To those who did not know her, the best way to describe her is by a tiny aspect of her life. Her father left the family when Rita was a child. She had no contact from him for many years until a social worker called about a man who was sick in hospital. Rita flew to Vancouver and cared for her father for several months until he died. Rita would like all of you to give your loved ones a hug everyday and tell them you love them for who they are. In lieu of flowers donations could be made in Rita's memory to the Unicef Fund for Children with Aids in Ukraine. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
