Date of Passing: Feb 10, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHANNON IRENE LUCYSHYN (nee McKINNON) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Shannon, on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Shannon will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 30 years, Clarence John, and her daughters, Kristen and Lisa, and son-in-law Dale Douma. Also left to cherish her memory are her parents Rainie and Alyce McKinnon, sister Maureen Boyce (Jim), and brothers, Bill (Judy), Rob (Kim), Bruce (Candace), along with numerous nieces and nephews and other family members who were so special to her. Shannon had many friends, young and old, who will miss her dearly. Shannon was born on November 10, 1954 in The Pas, MB, a town that always held a special place in her heart. She was called to nursing from an early age, and went on to complete her L.P.N. and R.N. programs. Shannon was thorough and steadfast as she worked to provide every patient with the utmost care and dignity. She was an advocate for all of those in her care, and she saved many lives because she was willing to go to great lengths for people due to her determination and compassionate spirit. Shannon was a committed and faithful servant of Christ and she strived to walk daily with God. She was proud to be a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as an elder at Kildonan Community Church for many years. Shannon was a continual learner and she had a great passion for reading and study. She enjoyed gardening, nature, and spending time with John, the love of her life. Those who knew Shannon loved her for her fun-loving spirit and feisty nature. Her creativity, savvy, and thoughtfulness shone through everything she did as she made sure each person she loved had more than they could have ever hoped for. Shannon was strong despite her many challenges. She was the glue that held our family together, always there with a kind and encouraging word when things got tough. She was our loudest cheerleader when we began new endeavors in our lives. Her commitment and courage are a gift to us all. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for caring for Shannon with respect and compassion. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, 956-4344. A celebration of Shannon's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Kildonan Community Church, 2373 Main Street. Reverend Brenda Fraser officiating.
