VIOLA SIGRIDUR PAULSON (nee THORKELSSON) November 10, 1919 December 22, 2007 With love and sadness in our hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Viola Paulson, on Saturday, December 22, 2007, at the St. Boniface Hospital. Viola was cherished by her children, Janice, Larry (Wendy) and Bill (Cheryl), grandchildren, Jason, Tiffany, Jodis, Crisha, Carlie, Derek, Aaron, Sean, Brenna, Drew, and great-grandchildren, Kadyn, Rowan and Hannah. Viola was a dear sister to Ray Thorkelsson and Fae (Albert) Frohwerk. Viola joined her husband Lloyd who passed away on August 12, 1997, her parents, Halldor and Gudrun, her sisters, Helen and Myrtle and her brothers, Harold, Haukur, Edwin and Connie. Viola was born on the family homestead in the rural municipality of Siglunesse, Manitoba. She was the middle child of a large family of nine children. Viola enjoyed her summers at Silver Bay, which was her favourite family gathering spot. Viola was a talented seamstress whose sewing skills were put to excellent use in providing clothing for herself, her family and many others. She also loved knitting and her handiwork and is still being enjoyed by everyone. Mom's smiles and kindness brightened our days in so many ways. Her greatest gift to us was the love and value of family. She will be remembered for her compassion towards others. She created a loving and safe home, always putting the needs of others before her own. In her own quiet and reserved way, Viola had inner strength and fortitude. Her gentle and selfless spirit will remain in our hearts forever. A celebration of Viola's life has taken place. A tree will be planted and cared for at Silver Bay, in her memory.
