RAYMOND THOMAS BUTTERFIELD February 6, 1917 - February 12, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. Ray leaves to mourn his wife Alma, sons, Gerald and Greg (Ira van den Berg), grandchildren, Paul (Sandra) Kreutzer, Karen (Mike) Sear, Kim Kreutzer, and Tyler, Chase and Mason Butterfield, great-grandchildren, Ben and Luke Sear, Emily and Jack Kreutzer, several nieces and nephews and their families. Ray was predeceased by his daughter Linda Butterfield, parents, Ethel and Walter, brothers, Maurice, John, Ken and Bill, sisters, Violet (Mitch) Oakes, Kathleen (Ralph) Thatcher and Brenda Russell. Ray was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Fort Rouge. Ray was proud of his contribution to the war effort during the Second World War with his work as a foreman at the cordite plant in Transcona. He worked for Dominion Motors before starting his landscaping business in 1957. Ray's work was also his passion and he continued working into his 70s. Ray was always very enterprising and had many small business interests on the side including owning a sawmill truck, keeping bees and building. Upon retirement, Ray and Alma spent many fun-filled winters enjoying the warm weather down south with his brothers and their families; golfing, playing cards and telling tales of the dirty 30s. Ray and Alma moved out of their home, Ray's pride and joy, into Portsmouth where they enjoyed the company of a new group of friends and acquaintances and the kind attention of the staff. Ray's last years were spent in West Park Manor where he and Alma were fortunate to be able to stay together. The family would like to thank the staff of West Park Manor for the loving care they gave to Ray and continue to give to Alma. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
