ROGER MELLICK On February 16, 2008 at the Concordia General Hospital, Roger George Mellick after a long and fulfilling life passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years. Roger is survived by his loving wife Anne, his son Wayne (Irene) and grandchildren Jeff and Eric. Roger joined the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada in 1942 and proudly served his country during the Second World War, suffering a leg wound in France. After the war, Roger came home to Manitoba and worked as a line foreman for Manitoba Hydro bringing power to rural Manitoba. Notably, he and his crew brought the first power lines to Hecla Island. In 1954 Roger joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as an AETech with the Northern Defense Station, North Bay, Ontario. Prior to his retirement, Roger had been a licensed auto mechanic for many years. He loved to travel, go camping and in earlier years was an avid hunter and fisherman. Most importantly Roger loved his family and was very proud of his two grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date.
