HALIF YANG In the early hours of Friday, February 15, 2008 loving husband, father and grandfather Halif Yang's heart gave out at the age of 69 years. Remaining to forever cherish Halif's memory are Linda (Lutz), wife of 34 years; daughter Paulani Borges (Manny); son Lateef; grandchildren, Ilyssia and Riker Borges and Mother-in-law Mamie Lutz. In Malaysia he leaves in mourning his sisters, Rodiah, Amnah; brothers Makhtar, Mohd. Shukur (Matt), Zainal and Yusuf ; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves many friends here, in Malaysia, England, France and British Columbia. He was predeceased by his mother and father, older brother Ramly and father-in-law Adam Lutz. Halif began his journey in Malaysia then he spent about ten years in England making numerous friends and continuing over the Atlantic to Winnipeg. He enjoyed traveling, photography, Hawaiian music, growing beautiful orchids and his latest interest and love was building Hawaiian lap steel guitars. Family and friends will continue to hold him in their hearts. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered. On Wednesday, February 20, Halif's funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., at the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking is available in the Seventh Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Halif's memory to the charity of one's choice.
