Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADELINE LOUISE NYCHUK-JENSEN (nee NYCHUK) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Adeline Louise Nychuk-Jensen on February 16, 2008. She was 51 years old. Adeline will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her four children: Colin, Anders, Nils and Karen, her husband Eric Jensen, her parents Richard and Violet Nychuk, sisters, Bonnie (John) Bilawka and family, Eilleen (Terrence) Cassan and family, Beverley (Les) Staten and family. She will be mourned by the Jensen family. Sven Jensen and the late Rae, Karen (Rob) Dewar and family, and Paul (Maureen) Jensen and family. Adeline was born in Russell, Manitoba. Her life was on a farm north of Angusville near Silver Beach. Her father farmed and her mother was a school teacher at the local elementary school. Along with three sisters, she learned the importance of hard work through the daily chores of looking after livestock and a garden. Adeline loved to learn. She attended school early as her mother took her to classes when she was teaching other students. This was the beginning an appreciation of learning which she would instill with her children later on in life. At Major Pratt Collegiate in Russell, she graduated at 16 with the first ever high school gold medal for highest overall academic average in Grade 12. She was awarded a scholarship to the University of Winnipeg where she went for her first year of school and then transferred to Red River Community College. There she received a diploma in medical laboratory technology. From there Adeline traveled around Manitoba working as a lab tech in places such as Neepawa, Ste. Rose and Thompson. Later Adeline yearned for another challenge and enrolled in Engineering at the University of Manitoba. She reveled in being one of the few women in the class and holding her own. She graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. Adeline loved to travel. In between studies she found time to travel - spending time in Jamaica, Japan, Greece, Australia, and New Zealand. Later on she loved to go skiing in the Rockies and be at Lake of the Woods with her children. She was game to try anything. Ringette, hockey and camping on the side of the road for the summer it was all fun. Adeline was devoted to her children. Their needs were her cause. She was especially close to her daughter Karen finally a girl in a sea of boys! She was very much involved in her children's education - volunteering at school and extracurricular activities - baking dozens of her famous butter tarts for fundraisers, organizing events, taking kids to swimming lessons and being there when her kids needed and appreciated it the most. This is what defined Adeline. That and her infectious smile. The family is grateful to the many friends who have been so kind. Words cannot express the loss felt by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 22 at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, 255 Oak St., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
