Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE (JOEY) HARCUS Josephine Harcus, 86, of Fort Frances, ON passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, ON. Josephine was born on September 12, 1921 in Rocanville, SK to Walter and Irene Goodman. She was the last of eight brothers and sisters. She was raised in Saskatchewan and then went to Winnipeg, MB to train as a nurse. She graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1944 and worked at the Deer Lodge Veterans Hospital. She was united in marriage to Samuel Harcus on November 16, 1946. They lived in Regina and Winnipeg before moving to Fort Frances in 1970. Joey was an avid golfer, curler and member of the LaVerendrye Hospital Auxiliary as well as a member of the Knox United Church. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake She leaves behind her husband Samuel; children Penny and husband Peter Thackeray of Thompson, MB, Donald and wife Barbara of Toledo, OH and Bruce of Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren Jennifer Cameron, Jerine Thackeray, Scott and Lindsey Harcus and Sam and Madison Harcus and their mother Sharon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in April 2008 at the Knox United Church in Fort Frances, Ontario. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at the Lady Frances Columbarium at the Fort Frances Cemetery following the service. The family would like to extend a thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of LaVerendrye Hospital for their wonderful help and support during Joey's stay.
