IRMA LYNDA FROESE (nee BOSCHMAN) Peacefully, at Lakeshore General Hospital on February 16, 2008, with her husband Abe and her dear friend Joan at her side, Lynda went to be with her Lord. She was 81 years. Lynda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Abe, her children Lois and Lee Isaacs, Marion and Geoff Gaudreau, Ed and Paula Froese, Gerald and Susanna Froese, Sheryl and Tim Hague, and Janet and Brad Lucas. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Andrew (Crystal), Ellie (Jeremy), Karen, Julienne and Ilana, Jenny, Anthony, Bethany, Christina, Daniel, Hannah, Matthew, Timothy, Jordana, Eleni, Carter, Cameron, Sophie and Quinn. Lynda was so pleased to have four great-grandchildren, Angela, Tyler, Shaylin, and Raelynn, and had prepared to greet another great-grandchild with hand-sewn baby blankets this spring. Lynda also leaves many beloved brothers and sisters to mourn her passing, and her dear friends and church family of Ashern Gospel Chapel. Lynda was born in Bruno, Saskatchewan, into a large farming family in the Petaigan area. She graduated from Bethany Bible School in April 1948. Lynda met the dashing Abe Froese in the Petaigan church, after which Abe used to ride his horse or walk six miles to visit her. They married on June 7, 1950, under an arbor of branches and leaves. They lived in the Nipawin and Carrot River areas until 1957, when they moved to Gillam, Manitoba, to work for Continental Interior Mission as church-planters. They continued that work in Thompson, Lynn Lake, and Gillam, until 1978, when they moved to Ashern, Manitoba, and pastored the Ashern Gospel Chapel. As a missionary's wife, Lynda was a true pioneer, whose gentle appearance and soft voice hid a great depth of character and strength. As a busy mom in the early railway town of Gillam, Lynda took a nursing diploma by correspondence through the Chicago School of Nursing so that she could treat her children as well as the Aboriginal children who seemed to pour through the door. Lynda had a gentle and nurturing spirit, both with children and with flowers, and she had the ability to cultivate beauty in difficult places. She loved all kinds of flowers and could make them grow wherever she went. Lynda was also a hospitable and creative cook who learned to stretch the soup to feed up to 25 people who just happened to drop by for lunch and make it taste wonderful at the same time. She was able to laugh with her family when, to her dismay, her fruit preserves fermented in the storeroom and exploded. Although Lynda's life was not always easy, she had a quirky sense of humour and a great deal of courage, and spent much time reading her Bible and lifting her family up in prayer. Most of all, throughout her life, she poured her energy and love on her family. We will never forget what she has taught us by her totally unconditional love for, and abiding faith in, her Saviour Jesus. Lynda was an elegant and beloved lady whom we will miss very much. A celebration of Lynda's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008, at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Bill Watson and Curt Bork officiating. The service will conclude at the hall with a family interment to be held at a later date at the Ashern Gospel Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Continental Mission Inc., 159 Cree Rd., Thompson, Manitoba R8N 0C2. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD. Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072
