JON HANNES PETURSSON Passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Trochu, Alberta on Saturday, February 16, 2008 in his 70th year. Blessed with two families, Jon was husband to the late Vivian May Samborsky and father to Phil, D'Arcy, and Gordon. Husband to Donna Carol McLean and father to Erik and Krista. Grandfather to Brian Petursson and Mya Petursson. Son of the late Hannes Jon Petursson and Bergthora Petursson (née Solmundson). He is predeceased by his brother Gordon and survived by his brother Brian (Susie) Petursson and sister Karen (Bud) Scanlan. Jon was born on May 8, 1938 in Huntsville, Ontario. He grew up in Winnipeg and Edmonton with his three siblings. He completed a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, which led to a career of oil and gas assignments within Alberta and Saskatchewan as well as overseas in Iran, Malaysia, Kenya, Colombia, and Vietnam. Jon was an adventurer with a penchant for travel and great pride in his Icelandic heritage. He was a logical thinker years ahead of his time with no limit to his imagination ... balanced by a soft heart with particular affection for animals.
