MARION JEAN SIMPSON September 11, 1948 February 19, 2008 Survived by husband Jack (40 years), children, Cyndy (Mike Szwaluk) and Murray (Tammy Karatchuk), grandchildren, Mandy and Eric Szwaluk, brothers, Hugh Freeman (Corrine) of Nova Scotia, Bob Freeman (Judy), Gary Freeman, niece Jodie Freeman, nephews, Mark, Zach, Ricky Freeman and Eddie Watt, as well as her dog Tawny and many relatives and dear friends. Predeceased by her mother and father, Emma and Aubrey Freeman, brother David, and many relatives and friends. Mom and Dad met at Tec Voc High School and were high school sweethearts. They married in 1968. Mom had always loved children so ended up volunteering at Tyndall Park School for many years. She went on to Stanley Knowles School where she worked as a Teacher Assistant for 19 years, and was loved by all who knew her. Everywhere Mom went, without fail, she would hear Hi, Mrs. Simpson by one of her many beloved students. Mom always had a great love of nature and animals. She, Dad and the kids spent many hours walking trails, camping and enjoying the outdoors (except for the occasional tornado). She always kept her sparrows in the backyard well fed, and loved to watch the many generations of baby sparrows that were born in the birdhouse in the yard. Mom loved nothing more to curl up with her blankets and a good mystery or a crossword puzzle. Her sense of humour, love of life and the visits from family and friends kept her smiling to the end. Thanks to the staff of H4 at Health Sciences Centre, all the nurses/doctors and workers who helped make life better and the many friends and staff at Stanley Knowles School. Special thanks to the wonderful friends of Currie Crescent, there could be none better. Special thanks to her guardian angels, Judy, Debbie, Cheryl and Terri who were always there for her making sure what she ate was warm enough or needed to vent . Watch out for the other guy were her words to everyone. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Sparling United Church, 1609 Elgin Ave. at Worth Street. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion's name to the Winnipeg Humane Society at 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
