MARY BJORNSON
Born: May 29, 1937
Date of Passing: Feb 19, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY BJORNSON Suddenly on February 19, 2008 at her home, with dad at her side, we lost our loving mother, and wife, Mary Bjornson, aged 70 years, of Arborg, MB. Mary was born on May 29, 1937 and grew up in the Jaroslaw district. She moved to Arborg when she turned 17 with her cousin Irene and she worked at Ken's Cafe where she met Siggi. They were married in 1957 and this past summer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on their farm. Mom's passions were having company at her house, eating sunflower seeds sitting by the bonfire, her huge garden, curling, hungry hunters, mending clothing for friends and neighbours and especially all ten of her grandchildren. She took great pride in the fact she could look up anyone's history in her library of history books faster than a computer. Anyone who knew Baba was lucky. You were always met at the kitchen table with a drink, vinartarta and rullupylsa. She was up at dawn to make breakfast for her overnight guests and she would eat with each one of them, even if she had to eat three times. Baba made the best perogies and perishke in the Interlake. She was selfless, hardworking, giving, loving and told it like it was even if it stung a little. Baba always liked a good joke and it was hard to find someone that didn't love her. Mary leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband Siggi, daughters, Debra (Bill Hudson) of Winnipeg and Lorraine of Yorkton, SK; one son Bradley (Jacquie) of Arborg; grandchildren, Amanda, Gregory, Michelle, Kaitlyn, Crystal, Shawnee, Janine, Braden, Dana and Taylor; two sisters, Victoria (Bill Chopek) and Katherine (Dave Hepworth); and many, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents John and Anne Huk. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Arborg Community Hall with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, Baba would like you to plant an extra flower in your garden. Mary's honorary pallbearers will be Dave Hepworth, Bill Chopek, Barney Sigvaldason, Jimmy Symynyshen, Stanley Shewchuk and Tony Hayka. Gilbart Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

I am very sorry to hear of Auntie Mary's passing. She is a lady that I know I will never forget! Her welcoming manner when we would visit, laugh, smile, even the way she said my name as a little girl. There will always be a perennial in my garden that comes up every year for Auntie Mary! I still remember how much she did love hers! Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family in Manitoba. - Posted by: Andrea Pillman (Family) on: Feb 22, 2008
