NETTY MORREN On Saturday, February 16, 2008 Netty Morren passed away peacefully at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home at the age of 87. Netty was born on August 20, 1920 in Soerabaja, Indonesia. She returned with her parents to The Netherlands where she completed her training in Physical Education and went on to become a Physiotherapist. Together with two Dutch colleagues Netty came to Canada in 1957 and started working for the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society. From there she moved to the Municipal Hospitals where she worked until her retirement in 1992. Netty was a very caring person and went out of her way to treat her patients to the best of her ability and during her career she studied and applied many new treatment methods. She also taught specialized massage courses at the University of Manitoba for many years. Upon her retirement she carried on treating private patients and kept on updating herself. Netty was devoted to reading, studying and especially to all her pets. She loved travelling and made extensive trips to Australia, Japan and of course to Holland. She visited her sister and family in Las Vegas many times and loved being in Florida with us. Netty will be especially sadly missed by her family, Corry and Jack Schreuder; and by Bill and Bertha Brant and their children and Carolyn Brant and Glen Hamilton. She will also be missed by her sister, Loes Kuroda and her nephew Paul Kuroda (Kurumi) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her nieces Annette Russell (George) of Potomac, Maryland and Mitzi Elledge (Steve) of Boston Massachusetts and their children. Many thanks to Dr. Jain and the caring staff at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home. You made the last few months of Netty's life truly special and no doubt a little easier to bear. Thanks as well to the many health care professionals that have looked after Netty's medical needs during the last few years of her life. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., 885-9715.
