Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJENNY EARDLEY (nee BOATWRIGHT) Peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jenny Eardley passed away at the age of 87 with her family by her side. Jenny is survived by her three children, Douglas and Debby Bullen (Meaghan), Doreen and Donald Webb, (Deanne, Aaron, Laura, and Andrew), all of Winnipeg, and William and Janet Bullen of Caledonia, Ontario. Jenny was born on May 27, 1920, in Hendon, a suburb of London. She was the daughter of Mary Ann (nee Gillis) and Robert Boatwright. Jenny became a British war bride when she married a Canadian soldier, Charles William Bullen in 1945 and immigrated to Winnipeg in April 1946. Jenny was predeceased by her parents and siblings, sisters, May Smith of Colchester, Margaret of London and brother Robert Boatwright of Southend-on-Sea, all of England. In 1965, Jenny married William George Eardley. Mum led a colourful life. During the war she worked for Plessis when it got bombed during the London Blitz. She decided to fight back by joining the Artillery Territorial Service (ATS), working as a Site Finder and Aack Aack gunner. In Winnipeg, Jenny also worked at Sears Polo Park for many years as a floor floater, Deer Lodge Hospital as a seamstress and a file clerk for the Province of Manitoba. Jenny had many talents - sewing, crocheting and knitting for her family. Jen especially enjoyed the family cottage at Star Lake where she spent many happy hours with friends and family. Jenny was a member of the A.C.W. at St. James Anglican Church, the ladies auxiliary at Legion No. 4 and a member of the War Brides Association in almost every province in Canada. Her greatest joy in the formative years was travelling from one war bride reunion to the other. The family would like to thank Yolanda Smith and her team of home care workers, the Grace Hospital team in the E.R., the 2nd and 4th floor South wards and the on-going support of family and friends. The funeral will take place at St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate Street, on Tuesday, February 26, 2008. The viewing will be held at 12:00 noon followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. with the Ven. Fletcher Stuart officiating.
