MINNIE DERKACH (nee KALYNIAK) Passed away at the Russell Health Centre on Friday, February 22, 2008 with her family at her side. Minnie was born on February 2, 1916 to Nicholas and Annie Kalyniak, in the RM of Boulton. She was married to Nicholas Derkach who passed away in 1998. Prayers will be said Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Russell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Russell with Father Bryan Bayda officiating. Interment to follow at the Russell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to make donations in memory of Minnie may do so to the Russell and District Health Foundation. Minnie leaves to mourn her sons and daughters-in-law John and Lena, Peter and Sonia, Len and Margie, Henry and Gloria. Grandchildren, Marie (Dean) Schappert, Michael (Joyce), Heather (Terry) Houssian, Nicole (Markus) Bain, Donovan, Jay, Travis, and Mark (Lisa). Seven great-grandchildren, Aaron, Cory, Hailie, Kersten, Ryan, Kennady, and Otello. She also leaves to mourn her brothers William (Lena) Kalyniak and Mike (Mary) Kalyniak, her sister-in-law Annie Kuz, and many relatives and friends. Throughout her life Minnie worked along side her husband Nick and was the foundation of the faith of her family. She was active in her church and her home was always open to acquaintances, family, and friends whom she cherished. She will be sadly missed by many.
