HELEN MYKICHUK Peacefully on February 22, 2008, with her loving family by her side, mom passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital (Palliative Care) at the age of 82 years. Her memory will be cherished and she will be sadly missed by her daughters, Joan Rusak (Robert), Pat Ward (Gary), and her son Peter; grandchildren, Corey (Alberta), Courtney (Andrea), Jeff (Andrea), Mike, Andrew, Megan and Michelle and great-grandchildren Carter and Sofia. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Sidor and Antanina Prach, her loving husband Mike and her son Kenny. Mom was born on June 21, 1925 in the Ukraine and as a young woman came to Canada on the last ship before the Second World War broke out in Poland. She married dad on November 8, 1952, and shortly after that they started their family. In the 49 years of marriage, mom enjoyed her extensive travels with dad and spending time with her family and friends at her cottage at Grand Beach. Mom's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and preparing her very special traditional meals for them. Mom was very active at 141 Legion, Achievers, Prosvita, BVM and at the Carriage House where she resided for the last seven years. She enjoyed meeting her many good friends for coffee at the Garden City shopping mall, where she would regularly meet up with her grandchildren and take pleasure in treating them to lunch. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Palliative Care team at St. Boniface Hospital, Tracey, Tami-Lee, Dr. St. Godard, and Sheri. A very special thank-you to Dr. Jan for his special kindness to mom and her family. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel with Very Reverend Father John Melnyk and cantor Gordon Mendres officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Corey, Jeff, Mike, Andrew and extended family Chris and Tim. Honorary pallbearers will be grandson Courtney and granddaughters Megan and Michelle. They will escort Baba to her final resting place beside her husband Mike and son Kenny. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Palliative Care ward, St. Boniface Hospital or to the Canadian Liver Foundation, MB Chapter. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
