LYDIA JANZEN After a long courageous battle with cancer, Lydia Janzen, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 23, 2008, at the age of 79, at the Riverview Health Centre. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her beloved husband, Alfred, of 56 years; daughter Doreen (Dave Froese); son Len; grandchildren, Audrey (fiance Pete) and Darryl (Julie). She is also survived by her sisters, Kay Kroeker, Hilda (Jack) Janzen, Paulette (Bob) Giesbrecht; brothers, Ernie (lrma) Esau and Henry (Eleanor) Esau; brother-in-law Jake (Nettie) Enns. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Diane; parents, Henry and Katrina Esau; sister Elsie, brother Al and infant brother John. Born June 31, 1929 in Central Butte, SK, Lydia and her family moved to Elm Creek, MB in 1945. After marriage to Alfred in 1951, they farmed together for many years and moved to Winnipeg in 1972. She enjoyed working at Sears Polo Park in the accounting office, until she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1984. Lydia and her husband enjoyed the summers at their Albert Beach cottage and traveling to warmer climates in the winter months. The family is grateful to Lydia for her faith, courage, strong will and positive attitude that enabled her to live many wonderful years and be a source of encouragement to all who met her. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff on ward 3E at Riverview Health Center for the loving care shown to Lydia. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ft. Garry Mennonite Brethren Church, 1771 Pembina Hwy., with Pastor Mary Reimer officiating. An interment will be held in the morning for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
