KEN MAYO October 30, 1947 - February 24, 2008 It is with love and sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Ken Mayo on February 24, 2008, at the age of 60. Ken's memory will be cherished by his loving wife and best friend Linda. Also, he will be lovingly missed and remembered by his daughter Karen and son-in-law Scott Weir, son David and daughter-in-law Sonyia Mayo, and daughter Robin and son-in-law Christopher Kobylak. Ken will also be greatly missed by his two grandchildren who were the love of his life, his Prince Corey Weir and his Princess Jessie Weir. Ken also leaves to mourn his mother Winnifred Mayo, sister Kellie Mayo, sister Peggy Mayo-Chipman and brother-in-law John Chipman, nephew Rick Adam, and nieces Shannon Adam, Ainsley Adam and Johanna Chipman. Ken was predeceased by his father Ted Mayo in March of 2007. Ken will also be sadly missed by his best furry friend Bonnie. Ken was born in Prince Albert, SK, and moved to Winnipeg in 1965. For the last 38 years Ken was employed with Manitoba Hydro where he made many friends whom he referred to as his second family. He was involved with CUPE Local 998 for about 20 years as treasurer, a member of the negotiating committee and chair of the grievance committee. A dream of Ken's was to work in the new Manitoba Hydro building but that was not meant to be. Fourteen years ago Ken and Linda bought property on Lee River and with their children cleared the lot and built a vacation paradise where they spent many happy years together. A special thanks to Brian and Nicole Hynes and family for their love and care of Bonnie. Another special thanks to Dr. Kevin Coates and Dr. Marcello Garcia and all of the wonderful nurses and support staff at Riverview Health Centre. Active pallbearers will be Ron Belisle, Randy Pstonick, Corey Weir, Ed Martens, John Cinq-Mars and Dave Orange. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or The Winnipeg Humane Society. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J COUTU CO.
