MARY MAVIS KING Peacefully on February 27, 2008, at the Selkirk General Hospital, Mavis King, aged 55 years, of Lockport, MB, beloved wife of Rick King, passed away after a lengthy illness. Mavis or Mais, as her friends called her, was born and raised in Newfoundland. She moved to Rivers, MB, when she was 18 and there met Rick. They were married in St. John's, Newfoundland, on May 14, 1971. She spent the next 25 years overseas and across Canada, wherever her husband was stationed with the military. They retired to Lockport in 1999. Her family was first and foremost to her and she also enjoyed league bowling. Besides her husband Rick, she leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Richard Jr. (Angel) and their children Joshua, Jessica and Ashley; Kyle (Melissa) and children Aaryn, Jaden and William; Jason and Shawn; two brothers Dan (Joan) and Len (Anita) of Petawawa, Ont.; and numerous in-laws, relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Pastor Stan Richards officiating.
