Date of Passing: Feb 27, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACOB BUHLER On the evening of February 27, 2008, Jake left his earthly home. Jake looked forward to the promise of John 14:2 that told him his new home in heaven was being prepared. We, his family mourn his passing but also celebrate his new life with Christ. Jake was born October 9, 1926 near the town of Aberdeen, Sask.. He was the oldest son of Abraham Buhler and Agnes Peters. He had a wonderful childhood and told many stories of life on the farm. He was privileged to know both sets of grandparents. Jake grew up with four brothers and three sisters whom he loved dearly. Jake was predeceased by his son Richard (1974), and his loving wife of 53 years Edna (2004). Jake will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Elaine, son James (Cheryl), grandchildren Richard (Benita) and Justin (Brenda) as well as extended family and many wonderful friends. We have many great memories of Dad and Grandpa including trips to Saskatoon, Banff, Drumheller and the west coast. He loved camping trips and picnics with his family, and tried hard to teach us all to golf. Jake was employed by Winnipeg Transit where he worked for 36 years before retiring. He was a long time member of Burrows Bethel Church where he served his Lord faithfully in a number of different positions. In his later years he became a member of Braeside Evangelical Mennonite Church. Funeral service will be held Monday March 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Braeside Evangelical Mennonite Church, 1011 Munroe Avenue, with interment in Mennonite Memorial Gardens. Viewing on Sunday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Bethania Personal Care Home Chapel, 1045 Concordia Ave. and at the church prior to the service. We would like to thank Bethania Personal Care Home and the staff for the love they showed to Jake and his family. We don't want to list names in fear of forgetting someone, but you are all wonderful. We will see you soon in heaven. - the family FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 2146 Main Street 339-5555
