HARRY SWATIUK On Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Misericordia Health Centre Uncle Harry passed away peacefully with family at his side. Born on October 15, 1916 in Sclater, Manitoba he was the fourth of six children. He completed high school in Point Douglas and after a number of years painting grain elevators across the Prairie Provinces he settled into a 42 year career with Canada Packers, retiring in 1981. Harry and his Darling' wife Kay enjoyed many years of travel having visited four continents and made their Elmwood home of nearly six decades a landmark with their silver antique wagon wheel fence. Harry was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Katherine (Slobodzian), his parents (Karp and Ksenia (Sysa), Sister Minnie and brothers Nick, Rudy, Mike and Ernie. He leaves to mourn his passing, sisters-in-law Olga, Margaret, Christie, Olga and Pat and brother-in-law Joe Hryhorko (Sally) and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. The real joy in his life was his family. Although Kay and Harry never had children of their own their many nieces and nephews were all treated with that reverence. We all appreciated the many diapers he changed, the Canada Packers picnics and fishing and camping adventures he took the children to, and their open door policy. Weicha will be fondly remembered for his gentle presence, generous spirit, love of travel, 8 mm family archive film collection, warm hospitality and many fishing trips and travel adventures. We all appreciated the many good times together, especially his eggs and garlic sausage special! Special thanks to his nephew John (Lynda) Dudych and family for all of their dedication and loving care through the years and to the staff at the Misericordia Health Centre for their kind care. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3 at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd (corner of Inkster and Keewatin). Viewing will take place a half hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. To place On-line condolences or to light a memorial candle in Harry's memory please logon to www.mosaicfunerals.ca.
