WILLIAM (BILL) KARPYSHIN Dad passed away peacefully on February 27, 2008 at the Concordia General Hospital at the age of 89. Dad is survived by his daughter Linda Wicklow, granddaughters Raegan (Clay Rankin) and great-granddaughter Sadie; Brandy (Nelson Governo) and his son Gary (Cherry) and granddaughter Miika (Guy Ebbrell), his brother Steve (Maxine) and their family, and was Grandpa Bill to his extended family Ron Prokopchuk (Linda) and Jimmy and Lisa and Joyce Lazar (Chester Bake) and many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by mom (Olga) in 1973 and (his second wife) Mary (Prokopchuk) in 1984, his sister Anne Mislawchuk and brother Harry Karpyshin. Dad was born in Winnipeg and married mom in 1942. They had a wonderful life together enjoying family fishing and road trips, travelling to Hawaii and Mexico and working in their garden. He was a mechanic at Winnipeg Transit for over 30 years retiring in 1983. He was the go to man at Transit always willing to help out the new guy and being a friend to everyone. What mattered most in his life was his family. He was especially proud of Linda and Gary and his three granddaughters. He never missed an opportunity to tell people that Raegan was a lawyer, Brandy a doctor and Miika an architect. He couldn't have been happier for them and for their successes. Another bright light in his life was the arrival of his great granddaughter - our little Sadie in 2006. He so enjoyed having her around and took every opportunity to tell people about her. He had many friends and was generous, supportive and helpful to everyone. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He always said he had a wonderful life. He was loved by many and he will be missed by all. The family would like to thank Dr. Terry Babick and the staff of Concordia General Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., ON1160 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, R3E 0V9.
