Born: Nov 15, 1997
Date of Passing: Feb 28, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJONAH RICHARD DUECK Jonah Richard Dueck was born in Winnipeg on November 15, 1997 to Richard and Connie Dueck. Jonah was our oldest child and brother to Micah, 8 years and Naomi, 6 years. Jonah was diagnosed with Autism at two years, 10 months and later developed a seizure disorder. He was a very difficult child to deal with at times because the Autism would often overpower his personality. God gave us grace to love Jonah and see his true personality, which was a child with deep personal empathy, sheer joy, and energy. Jonah loved watching Veggie Tales, bubble baths, rollerblading, swimming, climbing, and being at school. Jonah also loved being a big brother to Micah and Naomi. On February 27, 2008 Jonah had a tragic accident at home and on February 28, he went home to be with Jesus. Jonah is now playing with his Grandpa in heaven. Jonah was predeceased by his grandpa Bill Peters. He is survived by his mom and dad, his brother and sister, his grandparents Betty Peters and Diedrich and Annie Dueck; his aunts and uncles, Sharon and Darryl Klassen, Lorie and Bryan Schlamp, James Peters and Ann Walton, Miryam and Chuck Bueckert, Cliff and Natasha Dueck, and Sam and Kristelle Dueck; his adopted uncle and aunt, Nic and Kristy Skrabek; his cousins, Austyn, Nikolai, Jacelei, Katy, Ethan, Justin, Kai, Hannah, Margarita, Abigail, and Anthony as well as his many extended family and friends. Thank you to all the respite workers, schools and people who loved Jonah and made his life worth while. Thank you to Fire and Paramedics and Children's Emergency doctors and nurses who tried to save our Jonah. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at the PICU who took good care of Jonah right to the end. Visitation will be held on March 5, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. in Winnipeg. Funeral service will take place on March 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at The Meeting Place, 139 Smith Street in Winnipeg. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Austin Sommerfelder Cemetery located in Austin, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to a memorial fund to be created in Jonah's memory.
