JOHN FREDERIC CHRISTIE 1937 - 2008 John Frederic Christie passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the Victoria General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Frederic and Marjorie (nee Tulloch). He will be sadly missed by Joyce (nee Harrison), his wife of 47 years, his children Heather and Lynne Christie, and his grandsons, Brendan and Carson Domoney. He is also survived by his brother James Christie (Glenna) and sister, Elizabeth Christie, by his brother-in-law Glen Harrison (Margaret), nephew Reid (Kathy), nieces Nancy and Susan, (Roger LeGrand) and their families. John was born in Winnipeg on July 1, 1937. He grew up in Riverview attending Lord Roberts and Gordon Bell High School. He worked as an accountancy student at Deloitte Plender and moved soon afterwards to Royal Trust where he spent 30 years as an Accountant, Income Tax and Trust Officer. John's greatest pleasure besides his family was the cottage at West Hawk Lake. He spent as many weekends and holidays there as he could and was looking forward to many more years of extended time at the lake. He was a longtime member of the Pembina Curling Club and enjoyed his many years of participating in the annual MCA Bonspiel. He has more recently spent many hours researching his family history in Nova Scotia, Ireland and Scotland and was presently treasurer of the Manitoba Genealogical Society. A celebration of John's life will take place on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Avenue, with reception to follow. The family would like to thank the staff in ICU at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and kindness during the final few hours.
