She died peacefully with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1978; brothers Edgar, Rod, Norbert, Albany, Horace (Joe); and sister Jean. Isabel was born in Indian Springs, Manitoba, November 1, 1912. George and Isabel were married in Emerson, Manitoba on November 13, 1939. They lived in La Salle and worked side by side on the farm while raising their family. Isabel also had a very rewarding teaching career as a French specialist in several areas of Manitoba. At age 73 she opened the Stop Inn Restaurant outside Sanford, enjoying this successful venture for many years. Her last couple of years were spent contentedly living with Ron and Carol on the farm. Her biggest pleasures were family gatherings, playing cards, working on puzzles and keeping up with world affairs. In compliance with Isabel's wishes no formal funeral service will be held. In the summer, a gathering of friends and family will take place on the farm to celebrate Isabel's life. Further information will be posted in the Free Press. Special thanks to the staff of 5B at the St. Boniface Hospital. Your exceptional care was much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Isabel's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
