GUNNAR LLOYD FINNBOGASON July 6, 1938 - February 26, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd at the Ridge Meadows Hospital, Maple Ridge, BC. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 47 years Alice; children, Glenn (Donna), Warren (Margaret), Allan (Eva) and Robyn (Bob Penner), nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Wally (Linda) and Clifford; his mother-in-law Thruda Floyd; brother-in-law Lorne (Lorna), sister-in-law Doris (Roger Benson), numerous other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Finnbogi (1998) and Gudrun (also February 26, 2001). Lloyd was born in Arborg, Manitoba at the Gudmundson homestead, grew up in Geysir and moved to Vancouver, BC in 1963. There he worked for MacMillan Bloedel for over 35 years and was thoroughly enjoying retirement until his battle with lung cancer began. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life was held Thursday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maple Ridge, BC. On March 19 a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Geysir Cemetery (everyone welcome) Geysir, Manitoba with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson presiding followed with fellowship at the Geysir Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
