CAROLE HOOPER It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carole at the Health Sciences Center on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Carole leaves to mourn her loving and devoted husband of 51 years Jim, daughter Marina and Gary Douglas who they have lived with for the past 12 years, grandsons Cory (Kelley) and Jason and his daughter, great-granddaughter Jaylese Summers, son Jim Jr. (Tammy) and granddaughter Kristen (Tim), son Danny (Shirley) and grandchildren Jessica, Melissa, Jordon and James (predeceased), and son Rick (Rhonda) and grandsons Ron and Bradley and numerous other nieces and nephews. Carole was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 2, 1937 to Wilfred and Marie Clark (predeceased) and is survived by sisters Sheila LeBlanc, Marsha (Jimmy) Gomm, Nancy (Mike) (predeceased) Awalt and Cindy (Gary) Rogers, and brother Terry Clark. Carole was predeceased by brother George and sister's Kelly and Brenda. Carole grew up in Halifax, N.S. and attended St. Patrick's Catholic School, then married Jim in 1956, resided in Centrella and Barrie, ON. with Jim while in the Armed Forces and then moved to Winnipeg where she became president of the Catholic Women's League. After working a Post Office and managing a 7-11 in Westdale, Carole took on the challenge of Housekeeping and Laundry Manager at Oakview Nursing Home where she has since retired from. Carole enjoyed Bingo, travelling to Grand Forks and shopping. She will be sadly missed by the other members of The Pink Lady's club and her adopted daughter Lynn (McNaughton) who gave her nickname, Mommy Dearest . Special thanks to the 2nd floor surgery nurses at Selkirk General and the caring nurses in M.I.C.U. at Health Science Centre who cared for Carole during her 32 day stay. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbart's in Selkirk, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
